National Volunteer Week
To Canada's 13.3 million volunteers, thank you.
National Volunteer Week (NVW) is a time to recognize and celebrate the incredible efforts of our volunteers. It takes place April 21 to 27, 2013.
Volunteering is a part of who we are as Canadians. The Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, calls Canada "a smart and caring nation." It's our dedication to community involvement that has given us that reputation at home and around the globe.
CLASS has been very fortunate to have a dedicated and strong volunteer base that not only assists with the day to day lives of some of the Individuals we support, but also lends a hand at fund-raising events, sports activities and tournaments, sitting on committees and our board of directors. We give THANKS for their enthusiasm, commitment, dedication and recognize and appreciate the support you continue to give us!
Sincerely,
From all your friends at CLASS!
Greetings, Parents and Advocates!
It is extremely important that all parents/guardians of children with special needs know about various legal and financial issues that will arise with respect to your child(ren). This could be now depending on their age or pre-planning for the future. It also applies to anyone in the household with a disability. Due to the importance of the topics we will be discussing that night we felt that it was essential that you receive a special invitation to attend this evening. We are looking forward to having you at this informative meeting. Please bring anyone with you that you think might find this useful. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact C.L.A.S.S. at 705-435-4792 or email me at jlk.526@hotmail.com Click here for more details.

GO4KIDDS: New study funded by CIHR looking at kids with severe developmental disabilities
The Great Outcomes for Kids Impacted by Severe Developmental Disabilities project - GO4KIDDS - is a university based research study examining the health, wellbeing and social inclusion of Canadian children with severe developmental disabilities and their families. We are conducting a series of research projects including surveys, interviews, direct observation and case studies. The age range we are studying is school-aged children, approximately age 6 to 18 years, who have an intellectual/developmental disability in the moderate, severe or profound range. Children may also have a global developmental delay, developmental handicap, or mental retardation, as well as some physical disabilities, autism, and/or behaviour problems/mental health problems. There are currently two Surveys (a Basic Survey and an Extended Survey) intended for parents of children who have a severe DD. You can complete both Surveys by paper and pencil or online. To find the link to the Basic Survey, click here. You can also contact us by phone or email to request a paper copy, or if you have any questions (see website). For more information on our research projects and how to participate, visit us at our website: www.go4kidds.ca.
