It is with a heavy heart and an inspired spirit that we reflect on the passing of John Milne last June. They say that people cross our paths for a reason and that the path is never the same… John was a beloved member of our community and influenced our path in so many ways. Quick with a joke and helping hand, John mentored us to find fulfillment in service to others.

John brought joy to so many when he would suddenly appear in his red suit….with genuine interest and compassion for those he greeted.

His contributions here were many, he was instrumental in the development of the CLASS Annual Golf Tournament –, which will be celebrating its 29th year next June – that’s an amazing legacy – the funds raised from that has directly impacted the lives of men and women who use our services.

Additionally, John and his wife Janice established the Tottenham Rich Hill Church Soup n’ Bun program, which raised thousands of dollars to support people at CLASS over the years- this program inspired our “soup and a sandwich” program at the Everett Legion and has provided, social gathering, job training and employment opportunities for people. That’s quite an outcome from a bowl of soup on a cold winter’s day.

We are forever grateful for John’s dedication and commitment to volunteering. In honour of his memory and contributions, we would like to present this plaque to Janice Milne and dedicate our soup kitchen to John. The plaque will be hung on the wall as a tribute to John’s lasting impact on the CLASS community.
